There were many people and events that I wanted to learn more about-for example, Simon Bolivar, who gets the briefest of mentions in the chaseten, or Getulio Vargas, the longtime President of Brazil who committed suicide in office in This approach is certainly saves me a lot of the pain I have in reading many other history texts, but there are times when Chasteen would choose better to demonstrate facts instead of divulging in a biographic vignettes. The reason I couldn’t give it a full raving review is that I believe it’s geared to be used as a text, and this man doesn’t cite his sources.
